About National ASWA
ASWA is a professional not-for-profit organization founded in 1938 in Indianapolis to increase the opportunities for women in all fields of accounting. Today there are over 100 chapters and 6,000 members across the United States. Our members share similar concerns and challenges at professional and social levels and encompass all levels and fields of accounting, finance, tax, and consulting. There are four membership classifications: regular, associate (less than two years of experience), affiliate, and retired. Members include partners and employees of national, regional, and local CPA firms. Financial officers, controllers, financial analysts, data processing consultants, academicians, recent college graduates, students, and women returning to the work force. Many of our members have attained professional certifications.

About the Central New York Chapter
The Central New York Chapter represents the following counties: Onondaga, Oswego, Madison, Cortland and Cayuga. Today we have about 40 members who meet once a month, usually on the fourth Thursday, at various restaurants in the Syracuse area. Special monthly meetings include Student Career Night, Annual Tax Conference, Christmas Party, May Membership Drive and the June Officer Installation Banquet. The chapter serves the Central New York community by volunteering at the Rescue Mission, and Meals on Wheels. We also strive to provide the community valuable certified education courses on a quarterly basis.
